Canvas Discussions have a cool feature - when creating a discussion, I can choose to "Add to student to-do" with a specific deadline. This is fantastic. Unfortunately, this feature is not available in Announcements - instead, delayed Announcements simply add the publication time to the student calendar, which is not super helpful. Here's an example of a use case: say, I want to tell the students to read a book chapter by 26 Jan class. I should be able to post this as an announcement with a due date ("Add to student to-do") os 26 Jan. I definitely do not want to delay posting the announcement till the date on which I expect the students to complete the task I am setting for them.
To the Announcements, add a "Add to student to-do" (with custom date) feature, similar to the feature in Discussions.
