The interactive components and suitability of the Canvas platform is very limited for secondary students at this stage. The teaching staff at my school are struggling to convert their learning activities from OneNote to Canvas, as the platform requires so many additional steps to allow students to participate and demonstrate their learning - and the useability is so much reduced from the Microsoft suite.
Include functions for formative assessment such as: 1. Capabilities for students to type in the page or module that has been distributed without having to navigate to another aspect of the course (quiz/assignment/discussion). 2. Make quizzes and discussions more embedded in a page to allow for students to continue their learning in one page instead of navigating away. 3. Reduce the number of steps/clicks required to get between aspects of the platform - this loses educators and secondary students consistently.
