Dear Instructure Team, Thank you for continually providing such a valuable and user-friendly learning platform. We greatly appreciate the functionality that Canvas LMS offers. As a support staff member, I frequently receive inquiries from students who believed they had submitted an assignment, only to later discover that the submission was not completed. Students often report seeing a confirmation message on screen, but upon further investigation with our server administrators, we usually find that they submitted to a different assignment or course by mistake.
I would like to suggest a feature that I believe would be beneficial for both students and instructor: sending a submission confirmation email to students when they submit an assignment. This email could serve as proof of submission and help reduce misunderstandings. In a previous LMS we used (Blackboard), students received a submission receipt email with a unique confirmation number each time they submitted an assignment. The email clearly indicated the course and assignment name in the subject line, which made it easy for students to verify and refer to their submissions if needed. Implementing a similar feature in Canvas would provide students with tangible confirmation of their submissions, thereby improving their experience and reducing support inquiries.
