[Catalog] Create Payment Gateways for Canvas Catalog

We want the ability to initiate the process for creating multiple payment gateway(s) for Canvas Catalog for sub-catalogs. Currently, only Instructure staff can only activate this process. Most recently, we had one individual doing this process and when I emailed them the catalog was activated immediately. Currently, this individual has left Instrucuture and we need to go through a chain of events to get a subcatalog activated.

 

To mend this process we would like:

1. To have a drop-down menu to select Payment or Payment Gateway.

2. In the subcatalog, have a place to type in the payment information to set up the payment gateway.

If we provide a solution for this without a UI option, would that work for you as well?
What we have in mind that this would be a default inheritance from root accounts to sub accounts, and schools only need to reach out to us if they want to add a different payment provider.

Thank you so much for taking this into consideration. We just have a few questions, based on what you have stated:

  1. From what you have indicated, it seems that the payment gateway will be turned on at the root, and so ALL subcatalogs will have the payment gateway active (with no need to turn on a payment gateway for a specific subcatalog).  Is this correct?

    1. This will not really work for us, as we need to connect payment gateways with specific account numbers on our end for the funds to be channeled correctly, and this proposal would seemingly give us no way to track or control which courses use the gateway.  This could lead to a loss of funds and no audit trail for specific departments.

    2. Would there be a way to determine which payment gateways at subcatalogs are active and those that are not active?
    3. We would like to be able to check the identifier of what is being used for the payment gateway to know it is the right one for our institution since previously we have had issues with other institutions payment gateway transactions being put in our gateway.

  2. Would it be possible to use different payment gateways for different subcatalogs?
