[Catalog] Promotion Codes Handling

Problem statement:

It is imperative that the handling of promotion codes in Catalog has to be improved. What's missing?... 1. The ability to just disable a code. You can delete one, or just move the expiration date to today (or tomorrow). But you can't just disable it. 2. The ability to limit how many times a code can be used. We NEED the ability to limit a promotion code to a single use (or 2 or 5 or whatever). But again, the best I can do is continually watch the analytics and when the code is used, then I can delete it. 3. The ability to assign a code to a specific user/email address. Again, best I can do is watch for the user to use the code and then delete it. There's more but these are the big three.

Proposed solution:

1. Please build in the ability to disable a promotion code in. 2. Please build in the ability to limit the number of times a promotion code can be used. 3. Please build in the ability to assign/associate a promotion code with a specific user/email address.

Status changed to: Will Not Consider

Hi @hechla -

Thank you for sharing these ideas! I feel that they would help many Catalog customers.

Unfortunately, we are moving it to our Will Not Consider status because multiple requests are in a single thread. Please separate these requests into unique threads. This helps the Product Team easily align the updates to releases or their projects.

What are the guidelines for submitting a new idea?

Hello @KristinL -

This is all about promotion code handling. While I mentioned three specific items that need to be worked on and improved I really don't feel like these are separate requests since they're all very closely related.

I really feel that dismissing this as multiple requests is closed-minded.

But, I will separate them out if you must have them that way.

I know it is an additional task for you, but thank you! This is a request from the Product Team, and it definitely helps the Product Managers as they evaluate requests.
