[Discussions] Highlighting, sorting, pinning discussion posts
Instructors often add a long summary post to a discussion and want to ensure that all students see and read that instructor-written post. There is now no way to pin a specific post to the top of a given discussion. Not long ago it was possible to work around this--by clicking on sort by likes, then only instructor can like, then like a post and that post would remain at top of the discussion. At some point Canvas removed this functionality (a valuable functionality that other competitors have, and again Canvas used to have with this work around).
There are many ways to do this: 1) Restore the sort by likes and only instructor can like options that Canvas had just a couple years ago 2) Create a new sorting option that allows the instructor to pin an instructor or even a specific post authored by a student to the top of any discussion.
