[Enrollments] Canvas Observers

Problem statement:

Hi there, We have just implemented Observers into our Canvas (both normal and Elementary instances) and have thought of a few ideas: 1. Can we have a feature that allows an Admin to link another user to a student across *all* courses without the need for a QR code or student code? We have students enrolled in multiple courses and this would help SIGNIFICANTLY. 2. Can there be a bulk feature that can turn off notifications for all Observers (or can this be done by default) so the user has to turn it on? We are getting some Observers getting excessive amounts of email notifications. Thanks. Allison

Proposed solution:

1. This would assist with student equity - eg a specialist teacher wanting to support and assist a student with additional needs quickly. 2. The why would stop our observers getting excessive emails.

Hi! 

When an Observer links to a student, they should see all of the courses in which the student is enrolled. How do I link a student to my user account as an observer? There are ways for an Admin to set those up without codes, especially if you have an SIS and enroll families into it. Please share a little more about your enrollment process for Observers, and I'll do my best to share some additional resources!

I think that [Notifications] Don't have all Notifications on by Default and [Notifications] Default notification settings profiles by user role would help you achieve your second goal. Feel free to follow either (or both) of those ideas as they progress through the Ideas & Themes process.
