[Gradebook] Ability to see Assigned Total Points for a course

Problem statement:

The problem is that instructors aren't able to see the "total assigned points" for a course. Thus, this leads to frustration for instructors in wanting to see this information for this course. One example of a use case, would be if the instructor wanted not to use weighted grades or be able to see the "total assigned points" for a course with a course that is using weighted grades.

Proposed solution:

The solution would be to give instructors the ability/option for them see the total assigned points for a course in various parts of Canvas such as the gradebook, the course settings, and the assignments area. So that instructors are quickly able to glance that information in quick manner. This would help to reduce instructor frustration and give them additional flexiblity in how to view the total assigned points for their course.

In the Gradebook, if an instructor is not using weighted grades, it is possible to see the total points assigned/earned. How do I use the Total column in the Gradebook? 

I'm curious to learn more about your idea! Is it your hope that this point count would be available for all instructors, regardless of their use of weighted grading? In addition to the Gradebook, you'd like the point counts to be viewable alongside the information in the Assignments list?
