Right now, it is hard for Instructors to distinguish between sections of a class with the same title when using the Inbox for messaging. For example, three sections of ECON 101 will show as "ECON 101" when selecting the message recipient, as opposed to "ECON 101, Section 1". This makes it nearly impossible to distinguish which section the Instructor is emailing unless they happen to know how many students are in that section. Even if they do, there needs to be more information added so that Instructors can select the correct section for their message with the Inbox.
My suggestion is to have the course SIS ID added to the "Course Name/Title" so that the full course info is displayed when selecting a message recipient when using the Inbox tool. This will lead to less confusion for users of the Inbox and will prevent requiring Canvas admins to update their course titles to be abnormally long by including section numbers, semester, year etc.
