The Instructure Product Team is working on implementing a better solution to collect your feedback. Read Shiren's blog for more information.
Context: If you use both MathJax and switch to the Pretty HTML Editor, your math formatting becomes corrupted and is no longer rendered properly. Here is a video illustrating the idea: https://seattleu.instructuremedia.com/embed/b4848613-6944-4042-9d51-ceeaa319a17d On pages where there is a lot of MathJax content, hours of work can be undone by switching between the RCE and Pretty HTML view.
Make it so that you can directly type MathJax equations into the RCE and be able to switch back and forth between RCE and the Pretty HTML editor without losing all of your MathJax markup. I contacted support back in January of 2025. They closed the ticket in July stating that this is functioning correctly, and that any modification should come in the form of an idea. So here it is. ****** Hello, Our Product & Engineering team has reviewed this issue and determined it is functioning correctly, and will not be adjusted at this time. Equations can be copied and pasted into the editor, then can be adjusted via HTML; however, entering anything directly into the editor requires continuous editing there. Members of our Product & Engineering team are always open to input, and want to hear from you on our Community site if there is anything that would make your experience with Canvas better. Feel free to submit your suggestions on the Feature Idea site at https://community.canvaslms.com/community/ideas, with an explanation as to why such a change would be beneficial to you. Please let us know if you have any further questions we can assist with on this matter. Thank you, Support ****
