In the new quiz format in Canvas, there is no simple way to exclude specific questions from an item bank. If I use the same chapter’s item bank for both a quiz and an exam, students may encounter duplicate questions. Currently, the only options are to use the entire bank (all-or-nothing) or to create multiple duplicate banks with fewer questions, which is redundant and time-consuming.
Allow instructors to open an item bank, select individual questions with checkboxes, and assign only those to a random pool. In addition, include a feature that flags questions already used in other quizzes or exams. Both D2L and Blackboard provided this type of functionality, and it was extremely useful in preventing duplication and streamlining assessment creation.
