Instructors are with students for a short period of time. Yet, we like to know students and address them by their names. It is quite difficult to learn so many names right away, though, with one meeting a week or so in higher education contexts. This is made particularly challenging by uneven participation in class discussions and irregular attendance. We ask all students to upload their photos into Canvas. However, the photos shown in Canvas are so small that it is often hard to discern faces and associate them with names.
Canvas should provide a printable "Class Facebook" - it could be a specific view of the class roster https://canvas.{domain.tld}/courses/{course-id}/users, with large (about passport-size) photos, with large names (about Heading 3 size used in Discussions), emails, and possibly Programmes below the photo. In eCommerce terms, this could be the Grid View of the class roster, as opposed to the current List View, just with larger photos. The photos uploaded by everyone are certainly large enough to enable this.
