Upload your own thumbnail for an item in Commons

  This idea has been developed and deployed to Commons

While I like the option to choose from already available images when creating a thumbnail for an item in commons, I find the image library does not always contain images that relate to the item being added. I would like the ability to upload my own images for thumbnails. Providing some guidelines as to acceptable image resolutions and dimensions would also be useful if this feature is implemented.

I'm excited to let you all know that we released upload your own image! Commons Release Notes (2015-07-18)

And we've already started to see use of it!
