Audio files embedded on Canvas pages do not have a play icon on the Canvas mobile app.

I am instructional designer at Bellevue College and two instructors have reported that the audio files that they embed on Canvas, does not have the Play icon on the Canvas app. I checked it, and I am unable to see the play icon either. The original audio file from the instructor was a m4a file, I converted it to a mp3 and wav file and non of the files seems to have a play icon on the mobile app. I am attaching a screenshot of the files as displayed on the Canvas app from my phone. Bottom line is that students are unable to listen to the audio files embedded on Canvas from their Canvas mobile app. Please let me know if there is any other information that I can share.

@RajalakshmiSund Hi there! Thanks for submitting this with the necessary context. I am sure it is frustrating. If students tap on the music note icon in the app (as shown in your screenshot), that should prompt the audio to play. Can you check that? Next steps are below after you have tried that. 

If it does play, I would encourage you to have instructors put some instructions for playing the audio in the course to avoid more confusion. Something like this:

• Instructions: Listen to the audio below. If you are using the Canvas Mobile app, you must tap on the musical note at the center of the embedded player to play the audio. 

If it doesn't work, then you likely need to submit a Canvas support ticket and provide our team with this context to see if they can get the issue resolved for you!
