How do I issue an academic warning to a student in my class?

You have asked your question in a global community of Canvas users who do not have access to accounts beyond there own, and are unlikely to be able to answer your question.

Canvas does not have an "alert" function, so your school has likely installed an external tool for that function. And, since we cannot look, we have no idea where to have you look. I would suggest contacting someone at your school for assistance.
