Accessing student data after end of Canvas agreement/contract

We are coming to the end of our agreement with CANVAS, this is happening in a few days (due to a change of direction in the way we deliver our courses). By regulations in Australia, we need to hold on to student assessments and data for at least 5 years and will need to produce this data if we are to be audited.

Canvas gives me the impression that at the end of our agreement that access will be deleted and all content will be deleted.

Can you please let me know if a) my research is correct in that all data will be deleted and b) if so, is it possible to export all of the assessment and student data out so we can hold onto it for audit purposes and c) if possible, please point me in the direction of how to do it. 

Please note that just paying the annual fee for the next 5 years to maintain the data is not viable for our small school.

It would be best for you to contact your Canvas Customer Service Manager to get clarification about having access to your data after your contract ends.

There is not really a good way to download/export all of your assessment and student data.  

In the Reports area (Admin > Settings > Reports), there is a "Grade Export" report that will give you all the course grades, but not all the grades for individual assessments, or detailed assessment data.  

If you have access to Canvas Data, you can download some data extracts that provide some more detail.  There is a bit of discussion at https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Question-Forum/Download-multiple-gradebooks-from-multiple-... 

Beyond that, companies like K16 (https://www.k16solutions.com/ ) offer services to archive Canvas data, but I don't know that it's something that you would be able to arrange in just a few days.

Thankyou - we have not have had much feedback from Canvas but you inspired me to try again and I did have some useful info from them we are going to try.
