HI All,
I have created several announcements to be released at specific days and times. I went in to make an update, and did not touch the date or time, and it appears that it was sent out. If edits need to be made prior to the scheduled release, how do I prevent it from being released early?
Also, the message shows that Students have already submitted to this discussion, so group settings cannot be changed, when they have not seen the message?
Is anyone else confused with the redesign?

Hi Everyone - This sounds like something that Canvas Support would be happy to assist you with. If you haven't already submitted a ticket, please do so! They'll be able to take a closer look at what you're experiencing and then compare it to tickets from other institutions. This will help Canvas Support and our engineers identify a universal solution more quickly.
I just noticed this as well. It is a mess. I'm trying to change the date and time of pre-existing announcements and I too am getting the error message "Students have already submitted to this discussion, so group settings cannot be changed." This is not a discussion and no one has submitted anything. It needs to get fixed ASAP!
Hi @ErikChiarelott, it appears that there is no way to change the date of an announcement. It only adds an edited date. Many instructors re-use announcements from semester to semester, but this will look poorly to students who will see a very old date. If there isn't yet an Idea about this, I might write one up.
If anyone knows a way to change the date that appears on Announcements using the redesign, please let me know.
Hi Lauren,
We're experiencing the same issue at our institution. Hopefully, this will be resolved soon.
