Assignment "Page Not Found"---Has anyone encountered this issue, and if so, what is causing it?

I've seen this issue occur with at least 2 of our instructors, and it's probably happened with a few more instructors, they just haven't alerted us (our office). 

The issue: after creating an assignment page, and then going in to edit it (add content) and then save it, the instructor receives a "Page Not Found" page. The content isn't there, the assignment page isn't there. But, if the instructor leaves this area and comes back in sometime later, eventually the assignment page is there and the content is there. 

Is this potentially related to the cache? Or something else? I've seen this on both a Mac and a PC.

Hi cinman Welcome to the Canvas Community.

First thing to check - is the page published? The instructor will be able to see it even if it isn't published. But students won't. I've been caught out with this before.

Hi Bobby. It's an assignment page created by the instructor.

1. The instructor creates the assignment page, then
2. Edits the assignment page to add content (instructions, guidelines, etc), and sets the assignment settings, then saves the assignment page.
3. Upon saving the assignment page, the instructor receives the "Page Not Found" page/screen you see in the attached image.

It's as though the assignment page was never created. If the instructor leaves to go do something else online or just leaves their device in general and comes back later (hours later), the assignment page they thought they created will appear as it should have appeared in the first place, content intact.

Hmmm that is curious. 

After checking publishing this could be a fix - double-check to see if you've changed the name of a page or if the file has been deleted from the course.

After a bit of research some people have had luck with this - take a look at the enrollments of a few of the instructors reporting/experiencing the issue.  It's possible they have observer enrollments in addition to their teacher enrollments.  It's not a fix, just a possible pattern... 

Do you have any Canvas Support at your institution that you could ask? 

Hoping you get a resolution soon. When you do can you please let me know what it was? Just in case someone else has something similar happen.
