MS Word header is formatted incorrectly when uploaded to Canvas but it is correct on the MS Word document

I am faculty. My students uploaded MS Word document formatted papers over the weekend. These included a header line with the page number in the upper right corner of the document and their name in the upper left corner. When uploaded into Canvas, the page numbers are moved to the other side of the document (in Canvas only). This makes it appear to be wrong for grading purposes, when in fact the students formatted the document correctly. However, I have to download every document and open it and check it instead of use Canvas grader.

I believe that because the MS word document is converted into a PDF that the formatting does not necessarily stay the same. I recommend submitting a ticket to see if the Canvas engineers are able to assist with this issue.

The MS Word document was submitted by the student as a MS Word document (.docx). It was not a pdf. I took a screenshot of the issue for submission to this site.

As a student, I can confirm that this is happening on .docx file submissions for my assignments.  However, it only seems to be happening while viewing the document live in Canvas under the "View Feedback" option.  If I re-download the file from Canvas and then open it in Word on my local system, the header formatting is correct.  This wasn't an issue before, and seems to be a recently introduced bug in Canvas.  @sjevans, or anyone else from Instructure support, please pass this upstream.
