[ARCHIVED] Automatic Late Assignment

I am a new teacher at a middle school and the first two weeks of class I have been lenient with LATE assignments and giving full credit. However, I have informed my students starting next week they will get 25% off their assignment if it's late. My issue is when I go to change the settings to have Canvas automatically start taking 25% off LATE assignments, it messes up grades for assignments I've already graded. Is there a way to make it so it won't change past assignments but moving forward will automatically mark 25% off LATE assignments?

The only way I can think of to correct this is to go into the past assignments and mark them as not late.  In Grades, you can click the icon next to a students grade which will open the sidebar.  For anyone marked late, change the status to none.  I know it's not ideal to have to make these changes but from that sidebar you can click the left and right arrows next to the Assignment Title and fairly quickly move through the class. (Screenshot below is for a fake student on a fake assignment in a fake class)

Since the Late Policy affects the entire gradebook I think making this change is about the only way to have it only affect submissions going forward.

Hi @emnuttall 

Because you have already graded some submissions, and do not want those submissions factored into your new grade posting policy, you will need to apply your grade posting policy to each new assignment individually. See How do I select a grade posting policy for an assignment in the gradebook?

I have my late policy set to deduct 20% of the grade. I would like it to remain this way no matter how late the assignment is submitted. In order to make this happen, I have to set the lowest possible grade percent at 80%. However, when I do this I cannot deduct points for the quality of the assignment. 

For the example below 2 points should be deducted for the late assignment from her original grade of 9/10. Something is not working right.
