Cannot see items in student view while real students can

I haven't come across this issue before, but it is giving me fits. I've got two items in one module, an assignment and a quiz. For both of these, there are different due dates for two sets of students in the class. The module, assignment, and the quiz are all published. The assignment is viewable right now, while the quiz has a delay for the next day.

When I go into student view, there are no items in this module. A student in the class has confirmed that they can indeed see both items in the module and they are behaving as designed. This is my most recent module and all earlier modules have been behaving fine.

I've tried this across multiple browsers, reloaded pages, cleared cache and reset the student all to no avail.

Hello @mwarner2 ...

Thank you for describing your current setup in this module with the assignment and the quiz.  Do you know if you have any prerequisites or requirements for this module that would be preventing you from seeing these items in the Student View?  I'm assuming that you are able to see these items when you return to your own instructor view, correct?

Yes, I can still see all of my course content when I am viewing things as the instructor. To the best of my knowledge, I don't have any sort of prereqs or requirements for the module as I've never set anything like that up in the past and I've confirmed that a student in the class can see the module contents. Where would I begin to look for any sort of prerequisites or requirements?

To provide a bit more detail, I think the problem may be because I assigned two different dates for these items and then selected the students individually for each date to assign them to the correct ones. It is a small class and I have one student scheduled to complete these two items a few days later than the rest of the class, so I had to split the assignment and quiz up by student. Since the "Test Student" is not provided in the class list for me to individually select, I think this may be why I cannot see anything in the student view. To test this, I created a third mock assignment that was to the whole class and I could see this while in student view.

This seems like a bug in how Canvas deals with the test student that I hope can be addressed in an update.

Ah yes...if you had assigned something to students individually, it makes sense that the "Test Student" would not see that in Student View.  The "Test Student" role does not have an e-mail address associated with it...so even though "Test Student" can see many of the things that an actual student would see, since it's not an actual student, you cannot assign it to assignments like you can do for actual students.
