Outcomes in Merged Course/Sections to help reporting and importing.

Is there a way to have Outcomes report to a specific section of a Merged/Crosslisted set of courses/section?

All information reports back to the Parent/Primary section number.

I'm thinking having them take separate quizzes separated out by their section numbers.

This would be the downside of merging classes though, creating multiple quizzes for each SLO.

I can't find anything beyond the faculty manipulating the quizzes, as each student will still see their score.

Please let me know if there is anything else or any very smart Outcomes people out there...I know there is 🙂

I think that you might be alluding to two different things:-

• allocating specific Mastery Outcomes to specific sections
  • In my thinking you would need to have separate assignment rubrics, or seperate Quizzes
    • New Quizzes can associate one outcome with the whole quiz, or one outcome with a specific question
      • You might get away with a conditional question to differentiate students, but it would be clunky
    • Quizzes and Assignments can be set to specific sections, and thus specific outcomes - students would get only the outcomes in their quiz, assignment, or Rubric

• Reporting Outcomes by section
  • Unless something has changed recently I don't believe the Canvas Learning Mastery course level Dashboard offers differentiation by section, so if sections also have different outcomes and the Dashboard reports all, its likely to become quite unwieldy
  • You also need to do some careful testing around the student experience - I suspect that if you have multiple outcomes in a Course, students with access to their own Mastery view may be flooded with outcomes for other sections
    • There have been recent changes to Outcomes that I still need to check out

I'd be interested to hear what the 'outcome' of your quest is .....
