I would highly suggest that you first reach out to the Support folks at Virginia Tech...as they may be able to help you get your e-mail address corrected in their SIS (Student Information System). I was able to find this Support page on the VT website that might be of help to you:

Once they have gotten things corrected on their end, hopefully your e-mail address associated with your Canvas account (and probably also your account here in the Canvas Community) will be updated so that you don't have any further issues.
