I imported a .zip file from Blackboard. All went well; no issues.
But, when going through the question bank of the quiz questions, everything LOOKS fine . . . until I click the link, "Show more questions."
The link opens up more question, which are completely messed up with the formatting gobbledygook. See picture below.
As can be seen, the question above ("council =") is formatted properly. Everything below is what is shown of other questions after clicking the "show more" link.
I can do nothing with these questions, except manually re-write every one of them.
I have imported questions from .zip files to another different course on Canvas before with nothing like this happening.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know of a solution?
Thanks.
I just started having this exact same issue today (Friday, Feb 2, 2024). Before today, all questions in my question banks loaded properly, even those that appeared after clicking "show more questions".
Editing back to the original format doesn't work because once the page is refreshed and "show more questions" is clicked, the nonsense is back.
I chatted online with Canvas support and they are going to "send it up to be further investigated". Fingers crossed for a quick solution!
Thanks so much for the update! I'm glad that it's not just me.
I noticed the same problem happening with all my tests across all my courses.
Unfortunately, I have tests that are coming up that are offered via Canvas, so that this is EXTREMELY frustrating and not helpful at all.
Let's hope the issue is resolved quickly.
@MatthewDunn Most likely the incorrectly formatted questions are either caused by formatting issues with the package exported from Blackboard, processing issues while the file was imported to Canvas. You can try importing the content into Canvas again (and I recommend using the option "Overwrite assessment content with matching IDs" to prevent creating duplicate content) and see if the questions are correctly formatted. If importing the content again doesn't resolve the issue, it is most likely either the way the content was exported from Blackboard, or originally formatted in Blackboard that is causing it. If this is the case, it would need to either be edited or re-exported from Blackboard before it will import to Canvas as expected.
