Chrome browser extensions

I added some Chrome extensions and then started a quiz for my class.  The quiz would not load.  I logged off Canvas using the Chrome browser and logged in using Microsoft Edge and was able to complete the quiz.  I deleted those Chrome extensions from my Chrome browser but am still using Edge whenever I login to Canvas.  Is there any way that I can test taking a quiz using Chrome?  I'm hesitant to try it for a real quiz because as soon as I start the quiz the time limit timer starts.

This seems odd. My first thought was to wonder if there is a specific extension causing the issue. Are any of them related to Canvas? Second would be to ask if quizzes was working correctly before adding the extensions? That would definitely imply the extensions are the cause if it did work.

Without knowing specifically which extensions were added (and if it worked before adding them), it would be hard to determine what might be causing this issue for you. If you have another computer without the extensions, you could try that too.

As for testing it, have you tried the Preview option to see if that shows it working for you?

Well, I can't try it again using Chrome until my class has a real quiz that's due to be taken in a week or two.  But I wouldn't want to chance it that Chrome wouldn't work again and have to then switch to using Edge while the 15 minute timer for the quiz is ticking down.  I had added some Chrome extensions that were supposed to block ads since I had taken the previous quiz.  I didn't have an issue using Chrome to take the previous quiz.

So what I would want to do would be to take a test quiz to see if Chrome works now but the only quizzes I have access to take are the real quizzes that the instructor sets up and I have to complete within 4 days.  I wonder if any other colleges have set up a test quiz on their support website to test that a browser really will work before someone would have to take a real quiz that counts towards a grade.  I don't even remember which extensions that I had added from the Chrome web store so I don't which extension may have caused the problem.

Sign into Canvas, then go to your ad blocker to see if you can add it as an exception. See if that works.

By your wording, I am guessing you are a student. I would suggest talking with your instructor, and maybe your institution's tech department to get assistance from them. Your instructor would be able to set up an ungraded quiz and assign it to you to help you test what might be causing the problems. Definitely get your tech department involved. A good tech could coordinate to monitor your activity alongside your instructor to narrow down what might have caused the problem.

Yes, I am a student.  I've been in contact with the tech department.  What I'd like to do is ask them to set up a test quiz so I can test taking a quiz to see if my removing the google extensions has resolved the issue that I had.  I advised my instructor regarding the issue that I had and he sent an announcement to the class members regarding problems that adding a google extension might cause.  But I don't want to further involve my instructor with this issue.

I think that it is an issue that the college's tech department should help me resolve.  I'm wondering if any tech departments in other colleges have set up such a test quiz or test survey that behaves like a quiz on their support website so that students can test taking a quiz on a test quiz without it counting for a grade.  In the meantime I am using microsoft edge instead of google chrome when logging on to canvas and haven't had any issues.  I can't be the only person who's encountered this type of issue so I'd expect that some college has set up such a test quiz.  So I'd like to find a college that has done this so that I can then contact the tech department at my college to suggest that they do the same.
