You might want to check out this Guide: What are the browser and computer requirements for Instructure products?
When looking at this Guide, check out the section under the heading "Is My Browser up to Date?" It will show you information about the computer you are currently using (in this case, your Chromebook). I don't have much experience with Chromebooks, but I would think if that browser check gives you a green checkmark, you should be able to navigate around Canvas. I'll defer to others who have more experience with Chromebooks, though, as they may have other thoughts for you on Chromebooks.
