I have always concluded courses in the past, and students have still been able to access them afterward for review purposes. However, I recently concluded a course, and several students have informed me that they can no longer see or access the course content.
Is there something I need to do on my end to ensure students retain view-only access, or if there has been a recent change in Canvas settings or permissions that now prevents students from seeing concluded courses.
@RobertaPell Is this happening in your institution's instance of Canvas or the free for teachers version? Is it possible the course/term dates have been set with restricted access after the end date?
@james_whalley its happening in Canvas, I went a checked and there is no restricted time frame on the course. The other odd thing is that the students are missing, and if I go back and look at another concluded course the students are there.
I am really baffled with this.

@RobertaPell That is strange. Is this a Canvas instance that is unique to your institution or is it the public one at https://canvas.instructure.com/? All of your students being removed seems like it is probably an institution instance and something was run by the admin that removed students (maybe accidentally). There is not an easy way where you yourself could have accidentally removed all of the students. I would reach out to your local Canvas administrator for more information.
Hi @RobertaPell,
Have you checked to see if the students are in the "View Prior Enrollments" area of the Canvas course? The How do I view concluded enrollments in a course? - Instructure Community - 1212 guide can help you with that.
Have you checked to see if the "Restrict students from viewing course after term end date" setting in enabled in the course? The How do I restrict student access to a course befor... - Instructure Community - 1269 guide can help you with that.
Besides either of those, you would need to check with your institution's Canvas team or IT Department. @james_whalley already mentioned doing that. Have you check with them? What did they say?
