Can Course Navigation (left nav bar in a course) be set (and locked down) at the Admin level? I see that in the Course Settings, Course Navigation can be edited. But I want to know if an admin can override this. Can it be done in Canvas "out of the box" or does it require scripting?
Does anyone have experience with their institution "locking down" the course navigation? Does it work for you? Why or why not?
Thank you.

The Navigation menu is not configurable within the GUI, but there are some schools out there that are using scripts to hide or add tabs to the left. I would recommend getting a hold of your CSM to see if they can find a school you can talk to.

Thank you Robbie. That's what I thought but I wanted to be sure. Extra awesome sauce for you in posting an answer so quickly! Thanks.

We are trying to find an efficient way to ensure that there is uniformity in tabs found our courses (the first five) while also allowing the instructor to add more tabs as needed.
Have any further developments occurred since posts found in 2015 regarding an Administrator being able to lock down visible course navigation tabs in a specific order .

@PamelaImperato The answer I believe is still the same but you added the desire for the ability to add more if needed. This made me think of what we do, while not prefect, I think it has helped. We apply a course blueprint to every course when we provision them that simply applies certain settings to the course. (Note: we only sync the blueprint when we do the initial provisioning of courses so that faculty can make changes) One of those is we set the navigation menu. While faculty can override it, this at least gives everyone the same starting point and does create uniformity for the majority of courses.
