Hi there,
Why is it that a 403 Forbidden response is returned when a user enrolled as a student attempts to delete a submission comment that they made? It is understandable to not authorise editing or deletion of instructors' comments, but I find it strange that one can make a comment but then are prevented from deleting it?
Is this an institution-specific permissions setting, or just how Canvas is in general / default? And is there or will there be a way (in future maybe?) that one can delete their own submission comments?
Many thanks,
Alex
Solved! Go to Solution.
I looked on my student account, and with comments on an assignment, I do not have the option to delete the comment at all.
Was the comment on an assignment, discussion, quiz?
It is looking like that may be an institutional option to allow students to delete a comment. If that is the case, then the 403 message would be from an incorrect setting at your institution. I would suggest contacting your schools Canvas administrator to see if they know.

Hi Ron, thank you for your response.
Yes, the comment is on an assignment. I might ask the Canvas administrator.
Kind regards,
Alex
