Emailing to Whole Class - Group Emails

When I write an email to the entire class by selecting a course and selecting "All in Students" the "Send an individual message to each recipient" checkbox is selected and will not allow me to unselect it. As a result I get an email listed individually for EVERY student in my "Sent" folder. Is there a way to avoid this?

I don't see this behavior either on a computer or in the android mobile app. The "Send an individual message..." option is not automatically selected.

I see this condition only in a special class for faculty where I am enrolled both as Student and as Teacher. If I select "All in Teachers" it doesn't happen. If I select "All in Students" then the "Send an individual message..." is automatically selected.

Hello @alnero 

Your school's local Canvas Admins have the ability to make it so certain permissions (in this case Student Permissions) don't have the ability to send individual messages. It sounds like your institution has made it so Students are not able to do this.

You may want to reach out to your local Admin to see which permissions have been set up!

I am our institution's Canvas administrator. How can I configure our instance to exhibit the same behaviour for teachers? In other words, the option is checked and disabled?

In related news....

One of the help pages for this dialog box says, "If your recipient list contains more than 100 users, your message will automatically be sent as individual messages to each user." Here's the page in question:

Is it possible the above screenshot relates to a course with more than 100 students? Is the checked and disabled checkbox the way that stipulation is implemented?
