K have set up my assignments to apply a deduction for late work. If a student turns in late work due to illness, and I have agreed not to deduct the points for late work, how do I adjust it on Canvas to not reduce the points for certain assignments or certain students.

Hello @NaomiPetrushka
Thank you for contacting the Instructure Community. If you have a late policy in place for the class, there is only two ways to have it not apply to a particular student on a particular assignment. Firstly, you can go to the gradebook and mark their submission as "excused" However, this means that the assignment will not count for or against the student and they are completely excused from completing it. Here is the Canvas guide:
Presuming you want the student to get the points and not have the late penalty of X% deducted - you need to simply change their grade manually. You can do this again directly in the gradebook or via speedgrader. Hopefully this helps!

I recommend you change the due date for the student. That way the gradebook won't recognize it as late.
