On several of my students submitted assignments their answers are showing up as white text on a black background. It is happening on random answers but then other answers are the normal black text in a white background. This is happening on multiple students submissions and I just wanted to see if it was somehow Canvas showing me that the answers were copied and pasted or gotten through other illicit ways. I have attached a picture illustrating what I am referencing.
Hello @DeletedUser
Thanks for posting this in the Global Canvas Community!
I was able to look at your screenshot and I agree. That is very odd.
Judging from the screenshot, it looks like this was some sort of Google Doc? It is possible that the student(s) may have copied text from somewhere. It could also be that they might have accidentally selected a black background color on the Google Doc they submitted. I know that sometimes when I copy text from a website or word document, it brings over some of the HTML, which can include some of the formatting.
It might be best to touch base with the student you saw this with and ask them if they copied it from somewhere. I don't think Canvas support would be able to verify if they copied it from somewhere, unfortunately. Does it appear this way when you download and view it outside of Canvas? Or do you only see this when viewing it in Speedgrader?
