False Accessibility Flags

Why is Canvas telling me I have a "Major Issue" with the YoutTube video embedded on my class Home page??

The error message says, "Video is not public! Make it public so users can access it!"

I'm sorry, but are the designers here completely unaware of what an Unlisted video is? Flagging this cr** just to BE WRONG is annoying, and a massive waste of professors' time.

It's also especially infuriating when we are told that OUR OWN DISABILITIES can't be accommodated by this technology.

Hi @GregLangner,

I'm going to take a fairly educated guess that your school/institution is using the Yuja Panorama accessibility tool with Canvas, based on the terminology you're using and the Youtube issue.  My institution also uses Yuja Panorama and noticed this issue with falsely flagging Youtube videos last week.  We reported the issue to Yuja and they are investigating, but we haven't gotten any info beyond that at this point. Unfortunately, Instructure/Canvas won't really be able to do anything in this case, because it's a 3rd party integration issue.  I'd encourage you to report the issue to your institution Canvas team, as they likely also manage Yuja Panorama.  They can likely create a ticket with Yuja, which may be helpful in speeding up the investigation (and hopefully a fix) as the more tickets a vendor receives the more attention the issue usually gets.

I hope this info helps a bit, even though I know it's not really an immediate fix for the issue.
