I am currently working in the free version of Canvas LMS to learn the platform and create course content. I log in with my school Google account. If we were to purchase Canvas at my district, would I and the people I've had access my course (also by logging in with Google and using a free account) have any issues merging these accounts into the new district/enterprise version?
Solved! Go to Solution.
The licensed instance will have its own login page/authentication providers. The district can set up Google as an authentication provider for its instance, but you will still be going to the login page for the district's instance, so you should be able to use Google for both Canvas instances.
Hi @105053590566050 ,
If your school district licensed Canvas, the district would have its own Canvas instance, with its own users and courses. You could export your current course content and import it into a course on the district's licensed instance, but the users, coursework,, grades, etc. in your current free course would not transfer over.
Thank you for that response! It makes sense that the user data wouldn't transfer. Do you think we would run into any issues if the district has us logging in with Google into the licensed Cavas account when we log in with Google now to the free account?

Great, thank you!
