How to Remove a Graded Assignment from the Student's To-Do List & Mark it as Complete in Modules?

I have a discussion assignment that students are allowed to complete in-person or on Canvas. The assignment is set up with a "submit the assignment" requirement in the module.

In the past, when I manually submitted a grade for the discussion assignment, it was marked as "complete" in the module & was removed from the student's to-do list.

However, when I tested it today, it seems like it isn't removed from either location.

I did try to set the module requirement as "score at least 1.0." That marked it as complete in the module, but didn't seem to remove it from the to-do list. Also, I don't like that setting because it would show up as incomplete for students who have submitted it in Canvas.

I did search the knowledge base & discussion forum, but I can't seem to find information about this. I apologize if I'm missing something obvious.

Is there any way to mark a module item as complete & remove the assignment from the to-do list of certain students?

Hey @JBrown32!

In my experience, the To Do list is looking for a student action and not a grade.  If the student has completed the discussion assignment in-person, I would suggest having them post to the discussion and say something like, "Completed in Person".  This should remove the item from the student's To Do list and can also be easier for the instructor when going through the discussion online to figure out who has completed the assignment or not.  Just a thought.
