How to deduct percentage points for attendance

Hello,
I am trying to figure out how to deduct negative percentage points for student absences missed after the allowable amount. For example, after the student has missed a set number of absences, there is a 5% deduction to their final grade per absence over that set allowed amount.
I believe I can set up an "assignment" for attendance and only assign to those that will be getting the deduction, but I can't figure out the negative percentage points.
