How to embed html files from github within canvas

I'm trying to embed an html file that is hosted on github (not as a gitpage) within Canvas. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to do this?

I'm aware that iframes are a solution especially if the page is already rendered as gitpages, but how to go about it if the html file is not rendered already as gitpage?

Is there a reason you don't want to render it as a GitHub Page as that would be recommended?

It looks like there are some workarounds you could use for getting a URL for an HTML preview of the file, but it does increase the loading time and will take additional time for any linked CSS and JavaScript files to update the look.
