[ARCHIVED] How to exempt a few students from assignments?

I am new to Canvas, using it in hospital setting for annual competencies. I would like to exempt a few staff member (lets say 5 students) from majority of the assignments as they are not required for them. How do I do that besides manually assigning it to all 95 other students by name? i would like them to not receive notifications that those assignments are due either because it is confusing to them.

Hi @lill_lam 

I think the easiest way would be to create a group for the five exempt staff, and also create a group for everybody else, then simply assign the assignment to the group with everybody else. See How do I assign an assignment to a course group?

You can do the same thing by creating sections, and assigning the assignment to specified sections.
