How to recover a google slide presentation embedded in canvas?

I am a beginning teacher in middle school. The previous teacher had shared her modules with staff, who then sent them to me. Some of the presentations were shared on google drive with me. However, several modules have google slide presentations embedded in them, that I don't have on my drive. I can see the slides and click through them, but when I try to open the slides on google, it just takes me to my drive.
This means I cannot make edits or add new slides. How can I get a copy of the slides?

You will need to contact the teacher who created the slides, (or someone who has full editing permissions) and have them share the document with you.
