I'm trying to test the API for my job, specifically the OAuth.
I created an account as a teacher but I don't have the Admin permissions.
How can I set my own account as admin?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hey, @RandyFonseca ..
Assuming you have another account connected to Canvas with admin rights, I'm going to provide you with a link to a document below that should help answer your question.
https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Admin-Guide/How-do-I-add-an-admin-to-an-account/ta-p/212
In short, if you go to your Admin panel, click Settings > Admins, you should be able to add admins right there.
Hope this helps!
Are you using the free canvas for teacher? If so you won't be able to take an admin role.
If you are a teacher in a particular instance of Canvas (a school or college) you would need a current admin to give you admin privileges

I'm in another organization so how can I get admin account? Do I have to pay? if need, where I can pay to have admin account
@QuynhNhuPham ...
As far as I know, Instructure (the folks that make Canvas) does not offer a paid plan for individual users. Paid plans are available for schools and businesses that wish to have full access to the Canvas toolset (including administrator rights). You can read more about the differences between the Free For Teacher (FFT) and a paid Canvas account at:
@Chris_Hofer is correct, there are no plans currently available for individual users or smaller organizations that may benefit from that. To get access to a paid account or instance, you need to request a demo on Instructure's website, you'll schedule a time for a call and a live walkthrough that will allow you to check out everything on Canvas in action, and from there you will discuss pricing based off of your school, school district or other organization / business's needs.
Free for Teacher and K12 Free for Teacher accounts do not provide you with access to an admin account. The only admins of that instance are employees of Instructure that manage it.
I hope this helps as well! If you are interested in requesting a demo for your school or other organization, feel free to check this out here: https://www.instructure.com/request-demo
All the best!
