My classroom policy is 10% off per day an assignment is late. Is there a way to use the attendance feature included with Canvas so that a student marked as absent does not have that day counted against them on auto-grading assignments?
For instance, a student is absent on an assignment that was started and due on the same day. That student should be able to submit the assignment the next day with no late penalty, but I'm not sure if Canvas considers absences or not in the late grade calculation.
My school just enabled Attendance this year but I've not been able to find anything about this interaction and thought maybe someone knew already before I did my own testing.
