After the new year, images that I embed into Canvas quizzes started to be much too large for students to see. I found a fix as Canvas allows you to edit the size of the picture to "medium." After having done that, the next day, every single picture is now broken and lost. How can I recover these images and what changed over Christmas break so that images cannot be posted normally?
Hi @BrianSandkuhl,
I think this is likely a result of Instructure turning off the New RCE for New Quizzes temporarily while they iron out a but with imports. There was a blog post about this yesterday at: Turning Off the New Rich Content Editor in New Qui... - Instructure Community. I personally hope they re-enable the New RCE quickly!

I was using png images for students to read, and then answer questions. (I do this with images so that students cannot quickly copy the Spanish text into a translator app.)
Recently all of my images were suddenly only slightly larger than thumbnail size. I was able to change each image in the options to percent so that they showed at 100%. They were then the correct size.
Now, suddenly, my students are unable to view the images at all. When I upload a new image, it is once again very small, with no image options to rectify the error!
This is a huge problem for me, since I use New Quizzes for daily worksheets.
Hi there. Our teachers in Forney ISD are experiencing the same problems with images not showing in the new Quizzes just this week.
Is there an update on this issue? or a work-around?
Greetings all!
It appears the updates for the New RCE for New Quizzes were addressed in these release notes from earlier this year. I hope this means that no one is having residual issues. If your images in new quizzes are still not rendering properly, you may want to open a support case for additional troubleshooting.
Thank you everyone!
