Hello, I am a student and I am really struggling with the amount of time I have to spend reading text on a screen. I have spent the past few years reducing my screen time, and now that I have started school I am struggling with the massive intake of screen time. Is there a dark mode setting on the web browser for Canvas?

Hi Raymond. If you have the Immersive Reader button on the top right area in your Canvas courses, there is a dark mode option in that tool.

Hello @RaymondOzuna ...
An official "dark mode" in Canvas has been a popular request in the past several years, and there is an idea that's been created here in the Community that you'd want to follow:
[Theme Editor] Dark Theme/Dark Mode for Canvas - Instructure Community - 364079 (canvaslms.com)
As you can see, it's been added to a larger theme called:
I'd suggest following both of these so that you can participate in voting and conversations if/when that happens in the future.
@MDagne mentioned that you can use the Immersive Reader...which you can read more about here: How do I use the Microsoft Immersive Reader in a c... - Instructure Community - 446 (canvaslms.com). I think what @MDagne is referring to is within the "Text Preferences" icon (AA) and then selecting the "Dark theme" (black) to change your screen to a black background with white text. This will only change these colors in Immersive Reader. It does not change colors within the Canvas interface. Immersive Reader reads text to you on the screen, so if there are other elements on the page such as images, videos, etc., you'll need to view those within the Canvas envionment and not Immersive Reader.
I hope this helps a bit. Good luck!
