Hello all,
Recently on my devices, when I try to complete/submit a canvas assignment, I get a screen that says "launching session." This pop-up completely freezes the canvas page (not my computer screen).
I could reload the page, but whenever I go into a specific module with an assignment, it would say launching session. I tried everything: different devices and browsers (Google, firefox, Operagx, etc), but nothing worked. I logged onto other devices, Mac, Windows, and even my friend's computer.
I also think that this is a glitch that only I am facing. I've been asking around my classmates and none of them have this situation that I have. I don't know what session is being launched. I never had this problem in the past. I don't know why suddenly Canvas asks me to start some sort of session.
This was a bug that started happening on one device, so I started using other devices. After a few days, my other devices were having the same problem. I tried waiting for it to load. I waited about an hour on both my devices to no avail.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I found a fix to the problem. For some classes I took in the past, I had to have a proctoring chrome extension call ProctorU, which had a few different extensions, some of which were no longer supported. Once I removed the old unsupported versions, I assume were unsuccessfully trying to "launch session," the problem went away.
I have been struggling with this problem for a while as well! Someone mentioned the ProctorU could be causing it, and by getting rid of the extension, it finally worked. I also found that the "Guardian" extension did the same thing!
I have the same problem across several different institutions' canvas sites
Having same issue, as an instructor this is extremely problematic
