Missing Previous and Next Buttons for Discussions in Student View

Recently, we have noticed that the Previous and Next buttons are missing when we try to review Discussions in Student View. We can see them when we are in the teacher's view, but as soon as the pink outline comes up, the buttons cannot be seen. Are the buttons there and just being covered up by the pink outline of the student view, or can students not use the Previous and Next buttons in the discussion?
