Missing Student

Hello, I was attempting to change a student to another section. I removed from the section and then added to the new section. I submitted okay, but read something about deactivating user. So when I saw that I hit reactivate user which something came up and said restored. I did not intentionally hit deactivate user. Now I don't see the student in the class. How can I restore her back to the class? When I go to her profile, it shows she was in the course, which she took exams and all but now I don't see her 😞

Did you click save in between removing her from her old section and adding her to the new one? If so, that's why she isn't appearing, it completely deleted her enrollment since she wasn't assigned a section. You can manually re-add her to the course again via the People tab and clicking + People. From there, she will be restored successfully and can continue participating.

Hi @MargieWil83, you should know that if a student changes sections, their work does not go with the new enrollment.  All student work is tied to the student and the section together.  Even if both sections are in the same course shell, the student's work will be lost - but not permanently lost! If the student is re-enrolled in the original section their work will reappear, it is not deleted, just only visible if enrolled. 

You could see her page views if you are a Canvas admin, but there won't be any visible grades or homework submissions.  Maybe you restored her original section enrollment and that's why you see her exams and other work?
