Multiple Assignment but One Grade

Jump to solution

We are new to canvas in our district this year.  I am the media specialist for my school and I have teachers that are wanting to have multiple assignments but only have one grade for them in the gradebook.  For example, a daily warm up that needs to be turned in everyday but I would only give the students one weekly grade which would be an average of the daily assignments.  Is this possible? Right now every assignment that we create, unless it is marked ungraded, creates a column in the gradebook.

Howdy,

There isn't a way to do what you want directly.

Here are a few workarounds that I can think of -

1. Create 1 assignment (Daily warmup) and have the students resubmit each day. Then on friday the teacher would average the submission grades and that becomes the grade for that assignment.

2. Do the same as above, but use a rubric to grade the submissions and grade on Friday instead of each day.

There may be other ways to do this, let's see if anyone else has ideas. 🙂
