No Camera Detected

Jump to solution

Why doesn't canvas recognize my camera that is built into my laptop computer?  Very frustrating when I sm trying to record a video file for my students.  When canvas is searching for my camera the camera light turns on BUT I get the message "no camera detected'.

In my experience, there's two most likely causes - either your camera drivers are bad

and need to be reinstalled, or your browser is blocking your camera (or waiting for you to

click the "allow" button which pops up at the top or bottom of the window).

Try your camera again, and pay attention to the top and bottom of the window, looking for

an "Allow or Block" dialogue box. If it doesn't appear, you may need to check your

browser settings. here's one for Chrome, but all have similar options: Use your camera

and microphone in Chrome - Chrome Help

If it still doesn't work, then look up the model of camera, and search for the drivers.
