Notifications for group discussion threads

How can my students get notification if someone posted in their group discussion thread? Many of my students have said they don't get notifications if someone posts in their group discussion thread.

@MichelleR1 If you want students to get a notification whenever someone posts in a group discussion that they are a part of, there are two things to do. 

• First, students need to make sure they have the the notifications for Discussion Replies turned on (they are set to Daily by default).  They can use this Canvas guide to manage their notification settings: How do I manage my Canvas notification settings as a student? 
• Secondly, students would need to subscribe the their group discussion threads.  They can subscribe to the discussions following the process outlined in this Canvas guide: How do I subscribe to a discussion as a student?
