As a teacher, is there a way to change the precision in Canvas. I saw that it rounds off the hundredthousandths place 0.00014= 0.0001. Is there a way to change this setting? When I do Canvas as SJCC the numerical answers get an extra decimal place. 0.000464 would round off the millionths to 0.00046

It seems like I should be able to change this.??

Take a look at these lessons from the Canvas Instructor Guide.

You have three (classic) or four (new) types of requirements you can specify

  • Exact response (both). In classic quizzes, the margin of error is part of exact response. The answer is Give π accurate to two decimal places would have an exact answer of 3.14159265358979 +/- 0.005.
  • Margin of error (new)
  • Within a range (both). Give a two digit positive integer could have a range of between 10 and 99.
  • Precise response (both). This is called Answer with precision in classic quizzes. It's the how many digits are expected in the answer.

Precision is probably what you're after. The answer 0.000464 with a precision of 5 would give you 0.00046.

This is set on a per-question basis.
